Web design

Websites that earn people’s trust before you ever speak to them

Web design for established businesses across Devon, the South West and further afield. Clear, quick, easy to find and easy to run.

Most people find you online long before they meet you. They look at your website, decide what kind of business you are, and either get in touch or quietly move on. You never hear about the ones who moved on.

A good website makes that decision easy for the right people. It says what you do, shows who you are, answers the question they arrived with, and makes getting in touch simple.

That is what I build.

Who I build for

Businesses where being trusted matters more than being flashy

Financial advisers, clinics, counsellors, consultants, holiday lets, and trades with a reputation worth protecting.

What they have in common is that their clients are making a considered decision, often about something personal or expensive, and the website has to hold up to that.

I have rebranded an FCA regulated financial advice firm from the ground up, so compliance, accessibility and getting the details right are familiar territory rather than a complication.

What you get

What is actually in it

A site built around what your clients want to know

Structure first, then words, then design. That order matters, because a beautiful site that hides the thing people came for is not doing its job.

Words that sound like you

I will write them, or work with what you have. Either way they say something, rather than filling space.

Built to be found

Page titles, descriptions, headings and structured data, a sitemap submitted to Google, and your Google Business Profile set up so you show up locally. Your site is also structured to be readable by AI assistants, because that is increasingly where people ask for a recommendation.

Quick

Optimised images, sensible hosting, caching set up correctly. People leave slow sites and Google notices.

Yours to run

A short handover so you can update your own text, add a page or swap an image without needing to ask me. Some people want to. Some people would rather not, and that is what the care plans are for.

Looked after afterwards

Updates, backups, security and the small things that break quietly if nobody is watching.

How it works

Six steps, no surprises

01

A conversation

Half an hour, free, no obligation. What your business does, who you want more of, and what the site needs to achieve. If a rebuild is not the right answer I will say so.

02

A fixed quote

Itemised, in writing, before anything starts. You know exactly what you are paying for and what is included, with no surprise invoices at the end.

03

Structure and words

You and I agree the pages and what each one needs to do. Nothing is designed until that is settled, because that is what stops a project drifting.

04

Design and build

You see it as it comes together, not as a surprise at the end. Two rounds of changes are included.

05

Launch

Testing across phones, tablets and desktops, search set up, analytics connected, then live.

06

Afterwards

A month of settling in support is included, then a care plan if you would like one.

One person on the whole job

Recent work

A few of them

Citadel Financial Solutions

A full rebrand and website for an FCA regulated financial advice firm, including compliance approved content and a complete visual system. Read the case study

The Whitewater Clinic

A website for an HCPC registered physiotherapy clinic, with the treatments set out clearly and booking built in. Read the case study

Davey Wealth Management

A clear, credible site for a wealth management firm whose clients are making significant decisions.

Kate Stanton Counselling

A calm, warm site for a private counselling practice, where the tone had to do as much work as the words.

After launch

A website is not a thing you finish

Plugins update, links break, security patches appear, and search engines change what they reward.

You can look after all of that yourself, and some clients do. Or you can put it on a care plan and stop thinking about it. Either is fine, and there is no pressure to take one.

Hosting is £295 a year and covers the server, your SSL certificate, daily backups, domain management and uptime monitoring. A care plan is optional and sits on top of that, adding updates, security checks, and a short quarterly report showing how many people are finding you and what they are looking at.

Questions

Things people ask

How long does it take?

A Starter site is usually two to three weeks. A Standard site is four to six. The honest answer is that it depends more on how quickly content comes back than on the build.

What do you need from me?

Time for one good conversation, any photographs or logos you already have, and quick replies when you are asked to approve something. That is genuinely it.

Can I update it myself?

Yes. It is built on WordPress and you get a handover walking you through the things you are most likely to change.

Do you write the content?

I can, and it is usually better if I do. Most people find writing about their own business unexpectedly hard.

What if I already have a website?

Then it may not need replacing. Sometimes an afternoon of tidying does more than a rebuild would, and I would rather tell you that than take the bigger job.

Do you work outside Devon?

Yes. Most of the work happens remotely wherever you are, and photography is where being local matters most.

Have a look at what it would cost

No forms to fill in and nobody chasing you. Answer a few questions with the tool in the corner of the screen and you get a real figure.

Or if you would rather just ask, get in touch and you will hear back from me, not a chatbot.
